The Integrative Omics team has received >$400,000 USD from the Michael J. Fox Foundation for gene-environment onset modifiers in Parkinson’s Disease

The initial study “Investigation of environmental factors in idiopathic and LRRK2-related Parkinson’s disease” was funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2021 and they are pleased to announce yet another successful grant for the project “Interaction of mitochondrial genes and lifestyle factors on age at onset in idiopathic and LRRK2 Parkinson’s disease”. Carolin and Joanne have recently published their work on coffee, smoking and aspirin and age at onset in Parkinson’s disease. The new project will improve the understanding of specific gene-environment interactions and their effect on AAO in several large PD cohorts.
