The “Lübeck Interdisciplinary Platform for Genome Analytics” (LIGA) was recently installed within the Medical Faculty (“Sektion Medizin”) at University of Lübeck. It is affiliated with the University’s Institute of Neurogenetics and Institute of Integrative and Experimental Genomics. The overarching aim of LIGA is to excel genome research on campus to improve our understanding of the genetic and epigenetic foundations of genetically complex human diseases. To this end, we are using state-of-the-art high-throughput genome technologies in human DNA and RNA samples recruited within the auspices of a number of different collaborative projects. One main focus of our work lies in the elucidation of genetic determinants underlying aging-relevant traits and diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
