The Institute of Neurogenetics warmly welcomes Megan Belyea to our research community. Megan completed dual Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology, followed by a Master of Science in Biology with a specialization in electrophysiology at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Her previous research investigated the regulation of subfornical organ neurons by neurotensin, contributing to a deeper understanding of neuropeptide modulation in neural circuits involved in behavior and homeostasis.
Megan has joined the Integrative Omics Approaches in Parkinson’s Disease group led by Professor Joanne Trinh, where she will pursue her doctoral studies as part of the Else Kröner Medical Scientist Research Group (EKF) structured PhD program. Her research will explore somatic genetic variation and environmental influences in Parkinson’s disease, integrating neurogenetics, neuromodeling, and epidemiology to better understand disease heterogeneity and the mechanisms driving onset and progression.
We are delighted to welcome Megan to the Institute and look forward to the insights and collaboration her work will bring.
